What is a credit union?

A financial cooperative, owned, and controlled by its members for its members.

If I work in the city centre, but live elsewhere, am I free to join Sarsfield Credit Union?

Yes, you can join a credit union in the area where you work.

If I work in city centre, but I'm a member of another Credit Union, am I free to join Sarsfield Credit Union?

Yes, you can be a member of more than one credit union i.e. where you live or work, or if you live with a relative that is already a member of another credit union.

How do I join?

To open an account please bring with you the following documents to the credit union office here in Glentworth Street:

  • Photographic ID (e.g. a current Driving Licence or Passport)
  • Proof of Address (e.g. a utility bill, government letter or bank statement dated within the last 6 months)
  • Proof of PPSN (e.g. Medical/Drugs Payment Scheme Card, P60, P45, or correspondence from Revenue)
  • If not living in the area, proof of working in the area

Joining is Easy! It takes about 20-25 minutes.

To be eligible for membership of Sarsfield Credit Union you must fall into one of the following categories:

  • Live within our common bond area
  • Work in Limerick City
  • A family member who was a member of the Arch Confraternity
  • Live with a relative that is already a member
How Do I Apply for a loan?

For fast approval of a loan please provide:

  • Proof of Income (3 most recent payslips or social welfare receipts).
  • 3 Months Bank Statements. (including the most recent transactions)
  • 3 Months Credit Card Statements.
What are your Opening Hours?

Monday 9:00 - 16:30*

Tuesday's 9:00 - 16:30*

Wednesday 9:00 - 16:30*

Thursday's 9:00 - 16:30*

Friday’s 9:00 - 16:30*

*Closed for lunch 12 to 1pm

Can I pay my loan by Standing Order?

Yes.

Does Sarsfield Credit Union have online banking?

Yes, members can:

  • Transfer money between your accounts
  • Move money to other bank accounts such as family or friends
  • Check your balances for your own Credit Union Accounts
  • Check your statement
  • Apply for a loan
